OUR STORY
Mission Talk began as a response to the lack of justice awareness among the Latino faith community of Florida. In 2016, our founders launched the first forum to educate the top 100 influential young leaders under the age of 40. We partnered with denominations, grass-roots organizations, community leaders and professors to provide workshops on community transformation. In our first forum, we covered topics on racism, voting restoration, mass incarceration, protection of life, death penalty, immigration, poverty, hunger, education and just economy. The following year we doubled our attendance and by our third forum we had more than 600 participants from across the state of Florida and from several other states.
In 2019, we also launched our Community Transformation Cohort, a six-week program that serves as a follow-up to the annual forum for those who are interested in engaging and learning more about justice issues that impact our Latino communities. Currently, more than 300 students have participated in our justice educational program. In addition to our six-week justice cohort, we also launched our four-month advocacy intensive training for those interested in faith-based rooted organizing or forming part of our advocacy efforts.
