Celebrate Justice Convening

Mission Talk’s first annual Celebrate Justice Convening & Recognition dinner was held on April 12-13, 2024 at the Rosen Plaza Hotel in Orlando, Florida. Bringing together Justice Leadership Development for Community Transformation Cohort program church leaders and participants, this event honored legacy leadership by establishing and presenting the Streams of Justice Awards and premiered the release of "A Chronicle on Latino Evangelicals Engaging with Black History" by Mission Talk Films.

Streams of Justice award recipients are trailblazing leaders from the Latino community who have paved a way forward for justice & community transformation.

Dr. Elizabeth Conde-Frazier

Lifetime Achievement Award

Ira V. Frazier and Elizabeth Conde-Frazier have been life-giving streams of water in Christian service and education, excelling in roles that transcend traditional cultural expectations. Their marriage, rooted in a commitment to God, and mutual support even in the midst of illness and crisis has allowed them to balance their family life with their ministerial vocations. Ira’s leadership influence has been as a teacher, pastor and theological educator, while Elizabeth’s leadership has pioneered Hispanic theological education. Ira has a notable sporting and strong academic background and has contributed significantly to ministerial development in different contexts. Elizabeth, widely recognized for her academic and pastoral work, has been an influential voice in practical theology and religious education. She is known for her exemplary leadership development of younger generations, her multiple contributions to publications, and her leadership in Hispanic theological training.

Dr. Michael Mata

Award for Leadership in Community Transformation

With a deep love of cities and a career dedicated to community transformation, Rev. Michael A. Mata has integrated his training in urban planning and divinity into a series of roles that impact both communities and congregations. His work has focused on community development, rebuilding congregations, and training leaders, exerting a notable influence on theological education and urban ministerial practice. As director of TogetherLA, he continues his commitment to the well-being of the city, supported in his personal life by his wife Tina, with whom he shares a passion for sustainability and community service. Together, they have welcomed an extended family that reflects their dedication to personal and community transformation.

Rev. Dr. Víctor Ramos

Award for Christian Education & Social Impact

Pastor Víctor M. Ramos combines his deep faith with his dedication to community and pastoral service. This is reflected in his extensive ministerial career in Puerto Rico and Florida. With a solid academic background that includes a Doctorate in Ministry, Ramos has dedicated his life to teaching, ecclesiastical leadership, and community development. He leads with the goal of integrating Kingdom values ​​into the daily lives of believers. His leadership at El Calvario Church in Orlando and his work in ministerial education and pastoral counseling demonstrate his commitment to training leaders who impact the community following the example of Jesus Christ.

Dr. Ada & David Rivera

Award for Pastoral Work In Justice & Prophetic Action

Pastors David and Ada Rivera have dedicated more than three decades to ministry, founding the innovative Breaking Chains Ministry for addiction rehabilitation, and leading churches in New Jersey and Florida. Their passion for education and community service led them to establish an educational center in Ecuador and founded Bringing Hope Ministry in Tampa, where their work has had a profound social and spiritual impact. Recognized for their community work, the Riveras continue to transform lives, reflecting their commitment to restoration and hope in the community.
