We understand that each of us carries a unique experience shaped by our upbringing and the communities that have nurtured us. These stories not only define who we are but allow us to see our commonalities and inspire us for the justice work ahead.

Born in Puerto Rico, Agustin is the son of a Colombian immigrant who came to the United States at 19 and raised him and his siblings as a single mother. Although he was the son of a single mother, his father was always involved in his life and has held a dear relationship with him to this day. Growing up in New York, he experienced the harsh realities of a drug-infested neighborhood and violence, including witnessing a traumatic shooting at the age of 10. Despite these challenges, his life was deeply impacted by a local church that welcomed his family, providing them a basement to live in and connecting them with resources like welfare and community support. This church not only offered practical help but also instilled faith as a central part of his life, with his mother diligently praying and reading the Bible with her children. Though he faced struggles in school, Agustin persevered, graduated from college, and now leads Mission Talk. His passion is for people to thrive and for the church to be a true source of support for those in need, just as it was for his family.

Born in the Bronx, Omar's early years were marked by resilience and perseverance. Growing up in a family on welfare, he lived in challenging conditions, including a basement infested with rats and roaches. During the crack epidemic, he witnessed the harsh realities of his neighborhood, even marching over crack vials as part of his middle school band. After his parents’ divorce, Omar stayed with his father while his two brothers moved away, leading to years of separation. Inspired by his father’s heart for serving others, even in the face of hardship, Omar has developed a passion for addressing systemic oppression and bringing transformative change to communities. His story fuels his commitment to justice and hope for a better future for all.

Esther’s life has been shaped by resilience and responsibility. After her parents divorced when she was nine, she and her younger brother were raised by their single mother, who faced significant health challenges. As the older sibling, Esther had to grow up quickly, often stepping into an advocate’s role to ensure her mother received the care she needed. Having faced moments of almost losing her mom but witnessing God’s grace in sparing her, Esther developed a deep passion for advocating for others. Her experiences have instilled in her a heart for standing up for those in need and ensuring they are well supported and cared for.

Born in Puerto Rico, Nicole experienced profound loss early in life when her mother passed away from brain cancer at the age of 4. Her father, struggling with grief, turned to alcohol, leading to instability at home. At 8, Nicole asked to live with her aunt two hours away, where she found stability and a nurturing environment. Her arrival also brought hope to her aunt, who was enduring the anguish of her daughter being kidnapped by guerrillas in Colombia. After 101 days, her cousin returned home, and after enduring hardship the family decided to move to the U.S. for a fresh start. Nicole later attended the University of Florida, studying Family, Youth, and Community Sciences, driven by her passion for working with families and youth. Through personal struggles, Nicole was saved and found renewed purpose and alignment with her calling when she connected with Ignite, where ministry and community work became central to her journey.

Yet, even in the midst of darkness, Ruben’s life was forever changed by a powerful encounter that set him on a new path. With courage and faith, he left his past behind, moved to Florida, and answered God’s call to ministry. Today, Ruben serves as a pastor in Leesburg alongside his wife, pouring his heart into the community. Fueled by a vision to bring hope and restoration, he is passionately working to create an organization that offers education, drug rehabilitation, disability services, and housing for the homeless. Ruben’s story reminds us that no matter where we start, God can transform our lives and use us to bring light and healing to others.

Her journey took a transformative turn when she moved to Florida, courageously leaving an abusive relationship and surrendering her life to Christ. At Bible institute, she met Ruben, and together they embraced God’s calling to serve others. Now, as pastors in Leesburg, Ivelice and Ruben are passionately working to create an organization that provides education, drug rehabilitation, disability support, and housing for the homeless. Their mission is fueled by a deep desire to bring hope, restoration, and justice to those in need, proving that God can turn brokenness into a beautiful purpose.

Born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, as the only son among four sisters, Juan grew up witnessing the unwavering dedication of his hardworking father and the struggles his mother faced with mental health. Determined to carve out a different path, Juan joined the army at 20, an experience that shaped his resilience and broadened his perspective. After moving to Florida, he and his wife’s faith blossomed as they got baptized and became deeply involved in their church. Driven by a heart of service, Juan and his wife have dedicated their lives to helping the homeless, drug addicts, and the incarcerated. Their passion goes beyond just offering help—they personally pay for rehab for individuals in need and maintain lasting relationships to support their recovery. Juan’s journey shows that no matter where you come from, a heart full of faith and love has the power to change lives and uplift those who need it most.

Yet, despite these heartbreaking obstacles, Wanda excelled in school, pursuing higher education with determination and hope. Her journey wasn’t without its battles, but through faith and perseverance, she turned her life around. Today, Wanda, alongside her husband, is a beacon of hope to the homeless, drug addicts, and the incarcerated, selflessly paying for rehab and supporting individuals as they rebuild their lives. Wanda’s story is one of courage and grace, proving that no matter the darkness, there is always a way to walk into the light and offer that same hope to others.

Israel, born into a pastoral family in the Bronx, was immersed in church life from a young age. He began ministry early, engaging in street evangelism and youth leadership while working at Tiffany & Co. for 30 years. His path took a pivotal turn when he met his wife during an outreach event, leading to marriage and a move to Florida, where he served in a church for 12 years. Feeling a divine call to plant a church, Israel and his wife now lead The Outside Church, focused on reaching beyond the walls of the church to make a real-world impact. With a heart to address the challenges in Ft. Pierce, including rising gun violence and teen pregnancies, Israel is poised to use the Leadership Development for Community Transformation Program to refine his vision and bring transformation to his community.

When she met Jose, their relationship was rocky, but after a pivotal moment of prayer, Erica turned her life around. She began to heal, grow in her faith, and eventually became a leader in the women’s ministry. Today, Erica is passionate about outreach, particularly in a community facing poverty, and is deeply affected by the violence impacting young people. She’s excited to continue walking in the purpose God has for her.

Through faith and community action, Leonard is dedicated to addressing the root causes of his community’s challenges, focusing on addiction, gun violence, and the church’s role in bringing hope and change.

Pastor Eddie Rodriguez has been a passionate evangelist since 1967, beginning his ministry as a street preacher in New York City. His love for spreading the gospel has taken him from street corners to mass evangelism crusades across Latin America, Asia, and Europe. Starting his pastoral journey at just 19 years old, he has founded and pastored churches in New York, Florida, and Paraguay. With a ministry spanning decades, Pastor Eddie has also served as a District official of the Assemblies of God since 1987, holding roles such as General Presbyter, Assistant Superintendent, and Superintendent. His leadership extends to national boards, including the board of administration at Southeastern University. Currently, he serves as the founding pastor of A Place Called Hope in West Palm Beach, FL. Married to Martha since 1970, they have three children and seven grandchildren, continuing a legacy of faith and service.

Rafael's life was shaped by early loss and hardship, including the death of his mother and a father frequently in and out of prison. Struggling with addiction from a young age, his life took a transformative turn when his wife’s faith and prayers led him to accept Christ on August 11, 1996, experiencing immediate deliverance. He began his ministry journey as a youth pastor and later returned to Florida to reconnect with his childhood mentor. Today, Rafael leads the marriage ministry and prayer meetings at his church. He is deeply passionate about helping those who have been incarcerated reintegrate into society, advocating for second chances and the opportunity to build a better future free from past labels.

Her faith deepened after her husband gave his life to Christ, leading them to rededicate their lives to the Lord. Alondra committed herself to ministry, serving in Sunday school, girls’ ministries, prison outreach, and teaching new believers. Now a pastor and school nurse, she is passionate about making disciples and reaching a broken generation. As the district director for girls’ ministry, she has witnessed struggles like anger, dysfunction, and abuse but remains hopeful, praying for the church to be a light and a place of transformation.

Rodolfo, originally from Panama, moved to the U.S. at 16 to reunite with his mother and later attended Brandeis High School in Manhattan. He gave his life to Christ in 1985 and joined the army after meeting his wife, Alondra, in 1988. A near-death experience during her pregnancy with twins led Rodolfo to fully commit to God, quit drinking, and dedicate himself to serving others. After relocating to Florida in 1997, he now works alongside his wife in ministry, with a passion for missions and helping those in need.

There, he became an associate pastor and later planted a thriving church. His time working with a Canadian missionary in Cuba deepened his desire to make a positive impact on those in need. Angel's story is a testament to God's grace and purpose, even in the darkest moments.

He is confident that, together, they can break barriers, bridge generational gaps, and bring healing to those searching for purpose and belonging.

In 2001, they were finally reunited, though Esteban tragically lost his brother. After pastoring in Georgia and Kentucky, they settled in Florida, where they've served for 21 years. Despite hardships, Sonia's journey is a testament to God's faithfulness and provision, especially in times of struggle.

Born in the Dominican Republic, Alexis was raised Catholic and played basketball in high school, earning a scholarship to university. While in college, he met his wife, and together they have two children. Concerned that their children were growing up without a strong fear of God, they started a small family Bible group. As their discussions deepened, they turned to a pastor for guidance and began attending Pan de Vida church, where Alexis gave his life to the Lord. Now, he serves with the men of the church and is passionate about missions. Seeing the homeless in the streets drives him to make a difference, believing he can help bring change.

After moving to Florida, Loissi had a dream of attending Pan de Vida church, and when they visited, it felt like home. Though Alex was a practicing Catholic, Loissi's prayers led him to join her church. She is passionate about helping the homeless, feeling deeply moved by their struggles and the lack of resources they face.

Motivated by a deep sense of justice, Harold advocates for victims of sex trafficking, the homeless, and racial injustice, dedicating himself to bringing change and making a difference in the lives of those affected.

Nomary was born in Puerto Rico to a Puerto Rican mother and Dominican father, and has been grounded in the church for 30 years. While her upbringing was sheltered and filled with love for the Lord, she witnessed her older brothers' struggles with addiction and her middle brother’s involvement in gangs, yet she rose above these challenges. After working as a behavior therapist and teacher, Nomary retired and now works as a virtual assistant while supporting her husband’s mechanic shop. Despite experiencing profound loss in recent years, she continues to trust in God's timing and feels called to help struggling churches. With a heart for youth, she envisions creating programs to guide and support families in raising children in today’s world. Nomary remains steadfast, knowing God has a purpose for her in this new chapter.

Today, he and his church serve over 70 homeless individuals weekly, providing food, clothing, and showers, with many veterans among them. Elyse was born in Port au Prince, Haiti, and grew up as a pastor's kid, deeply involved in the community. His father ran orphanages that cared for over 100 children, providing them with food, shelter, and trade education like carpentry, masonry, and auto mechanics. Their mission was to transform these kids into productive members of society. After moving to the U.S., Elyse continued serving, first in Michigan and now with his wife at Nueva Vida's outreach ministry. For six years, they have worked to give back, especially by providing food for the community at Thanksgiving. Now a counselor, she is passionate about supporting youth and young adults facing difficult family situations. Jaanel advocates for better mental health support, child protection laws, and a stronger education system for at-risk youth. Through her own struggles, she believes God has called her to bring change, healing, and hope to others.

Her life reflects a deep commitment to making a lasting impact and ensuring every child has the chance to thrive.

Yet, despite these challenges, she found strength in her journey, discovering freedom and purpose during her college years. Today, Muriette is deeply passionate about supporting young people, particularly girls, navigating mental health struggles. With a heart to make a difference, she advocates for vulnerable children, guiding them toward education and brighter futures while raising awareness about the power of support in overcoming life's toughest battles.

Raised in a faith-driven family, Agustin faced personal and spiritual struggles, including his father’s moral failure and a legalistic church. After a difficult divorce, he learned responsibility and perseverance, earning a BA and a master's in marketing. Business success led him to Oregon, where he and his wife, Alexandra, encountered new challenges before finding spiritual renewal in Gainesville at Ignite Life Center. Today, he is passionate about serving youth, immigrants, and the homeless, focusing on issues like homelessness and underfunded schools. Through coaching and mentoring, he is committed to making a lasting impact and seeing the church as a beacon of hope.

Alexandra, raised in Bayamon, PR, with a deep love for sports, has always carried a strong sense of resilience and faith. After meeting her husband, Agustin, they moved to Oregon and later to Gainesville, where they experienced spiritual renewal at Ignite Life Center. Despite facing personal and family struggles, her unwavering faith allowed her to witness the miraculous healing power of God, including her father’s recovery from cancer. Today, Alexandra mentors young mothers and is deeply passionate about helping homeless children in Alachua County. Her journey reflects the power of faith, resilience, and a servant’s heart as she works to make a lasting impact on her community.

Growing up attending his grandmother's Presbyterian church, Jorge developed an early awareness of God, even as he stepped away from church as a teenager. Reconnecting with faith through his wife, he now serves alongside her in their church. Passionate about helping the less fortunate, Jorge was deeply impacted by an experience as a pharmacist in Puerto Rico, where he encountered a struggling father and his young daughter. When the family’s financial hardships led to the girl being placed in state care, the moment left a lasting impression on Jorge. This experience fuels his desire to support families in crisis, ensuring that no child has to endure such separation due to a lack of resources.
